The Broads Authority

Background to the project

The Broads Authority opened a small visitor centre at Ranworth, in the heart of the Broads National Park and wanted to share the history of Broads holidays with present-day holidaymakers. Part of their remit is to promote an understanding of this special area, and this is an effective way of revealing the unique wetland and how to enjoy it appropriately.

Project Requirements

Whilst the Broads Authority had archive photos they knew that the moving image would really connect with their wide-range of visitors. People are very used to watching videos for information and entertainment, and with their limited space they knew this would work as there’s something about old movies that people love!

Outcomes

‘It is expected that the Ranworth centre will have approximately 40,000 visitors a year so our film will be reaching a lot of holidaymakers. People are saying how much they have enjoyed watching it – and many watch all 28 minutes. For some it brings back a lot of happy holiday memories, and even our younger, perhaps harder-to-reach audience, are watching it with interest.

We worked closely with the East Anglian Film Archive on this project, using their archive services. EAFA is a well-established organisation with an extensive collection and knowledgeable team. It has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with them again.’
