Using Moving Image Material

You may wish to discuss with a film archive using the material in an event such as a public screening, online (as part of a website) or within an audio visual presentation, for example as part of an exhibition. This is not an exhaustive list.

Technical Considerations

For all of these uses a digital file will be required and film archives can advise on this. If the material you want to use is not already digitised, some film archives may be able to digitise an analogue film or video and charges may apply. They can advise on the digital format you might need for a particular use and sometimes may be willing to liaise with a cinema or a web developer to confirm the format required.

Film Archive Charges

Film archives will be able to give advice on costs for each type of use or service, such as copyright clearance, research, curatorial and technical work including supplying digital files or editing.
